Liverpool wait on scans as fears grow over Alexander Isak leg fracture

Liverpool are anxiously awaiting scan results amid concerns that record signing Alexander Isak may have suffered a broken leg during their victory over Tottenham, according to reports on Monday.
The Sweden international was injured while scoring the opening goal in Saturday’s 2–1 win in London after a sliding challenge from Spurs defender Micky van der Ven.
Isak, who had been introduced in the second half, was clearly in pain and unable to celebrate with his teammates before being forced to leave the pitch.
Speaking immediately after the match, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot admitted the situation looked worrying.
“If a player doesn’t even try to come back, that is usually not a good thing but I cannot say anything more than that,” he said.
“That is just gut feeling and nothing medical… let’s not be too negative yet. We don’t know yet. Let’s hope he is back with us soon.”
Reports from The Athletic and Sky Sports suggest Liverpool fear the 26-year-old has broken his leg, an injury that would likely sideline him for a significant period.
Isak’s time at Anfield has been disrupted since his British record £125 million move from Newcastle on deadline day. He has made just 16 appearances, scoring three goals so far.
A dispute with his former club prevented him from completing a full pre-season, leaving him short of match fitness upon arrival. His campaign was later interrupted by a groin problem.
Any prolonged absence would be a major setback for Slot, especially with Mohamed Salah away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Cody Gakpo not expected back from a muscle injury until early in the new year.
That leaves Hugo Ekitike, who has scored five times in his last four matches, and Federico Chiesa as the only available senior attacking options.
Liverpool have climbed to fifth in the Premier League standings after extending their unbeaten run to five matches, following a difficult spell that derailed their title defence.
